A new museum that pays tribute to blues music is coming to Ariton.An old Greyhound bus station there has quite the history.

Big Mama Thornton, whose hit single"Hound Dog" was covered by Elvis, will be honored by a new museum in her hometown of Ariton, Alabama.ARITON, Ala. - A new museum that pays tribute to blues music is coming to Ariton.“That was her hang-out spot. She sat on the bench up there and played the harmonica,” Chairman Steve Mckinnon with the Dale Commission said.

Benjamin Key, a distant relative of Thornton and an Ariton councilman has been spearheading the effort to convert the station into a museum.
