A man who became trapped in machinery at a central Queensland workplace has died. The 68-year-old Yeppoon man was working at a property in Park Ave in Rockhampton on Tuesday when he became trapped in what’s believed to be a machine that crushes stone and concrete. He suffered a significant head injury in the accident that occurred about 11.30am. Emergency services worked for about two hours to free him. He was taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a critical condition. He died there on Tuesday night.
“Police will prepare a report for the coroner following the death of a 68-year-old Yeppoon man following an incident at Park Ave,” police said in a statement. A Workplace Health and Safety investigation is underway, with police assisting. It’s the third major workplace incident in central Queensland in a fortnight, after a man was killed in a cattle truck accident in Bauhinia on February 29.
