On Monday, the rock band announced that it will be heading on the Voyage to the Blue Planet Tour this fall to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut, self-titled albumThe group announced the run of shows with an astronaut-themed video that sees all four members —Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell, and Scott Shriner — walking in slow-motion onto a spaceship.
“The time has finally come for you to join us as we embark on The Voyage to the Blue Planet Tour 🚀🪐,” the group wrote on Instagram. “We’re celebrating 30 years of the Blue Album, and we’re bringing along @flaminglips and @dinosaurjr for the ride.”Weezer will kick off their tour on Sept. 4 in Saint Paul, before stopping in Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., and Seattle. They’ll close at the yet-to-be-opened Intuit Dome on Oct. 11.
Joining Weezer on the road will be Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr. Tickets for the shows go on sale to the public on March 15 at 10 a.m. local time. Fans can sign up for presale tickets, which go on sale at noon local time on March 13. The group will also perform a special anniversary event at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles on March 15.the Blue Album as one of the 500 greatest albums of all time. “Released in 1994, it’s the geeky, equally angsty little brother of Pearl Jam’s , somehow both more sincere and more ironic than its predecessors, and in some ways bolder in its disregard for the old rules of rock,” read a review of the LP.Sept. 4 – Saint Paul, MN @ Xcel Energy CenterSept.
