I did not realize that “Mario Day” was a thing, but it’s apparently based on it being March 10, aka MAR10. Get it? Fun! Anyway, to celebrate that, Miyamoto and Illumination haveHowever, something seems a bit odd. It’s not being called Super Mario Bros. 2. The word “sequel” is never uttered in the presentation. Instead, Miyamoto says they are “broadening Mario’s world further” and that it’s “set in the world of Super Mario Bros.”just a direct sequel, why they wouldn’t say that.
The film also has a release date which is far away, April 3, 2026. That may end up moving as release dates tend to do, but that’s the plan for now. It’s apparently the same directors, the same animation team. Nothing has been announced about the, but presumably whatever characters re-appear, it’s almost certain they’ll keep their same actor, be it Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Jack Black or Anya Taylor-Joy.
More to come, and whatever this ends up being, chances are it will both be good and make a ton of money, guaranteed.
