SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Although Dune: Part Two is a sweeping epic that would be well-received for its visuals and storytelling, the actor's performances in the movie elevate the movie. It's easy to discuss the stars of the film, Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani, but the rest of the supporting cast cannot be credited enough for how well they flesh out and inhabit the world of the film.
14 Babs Olusanmokun Jamis Though only seen in flashbacks and visions, Jamis still plays a significant role in Dune 2 and in Paul's journey to becoming the false prophet. In Dune, Babs Olusanmokun is featured in Paul's visions as a mentor and friend, but when they encounter each other in reality, they engage in a duel to death that ends with Paul taking Jamis' life.
10 Christopher Walken Padishah Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV The emperor is frequently referenced in the first movie, Dune, but it's not until Dune 2 that the audience sees the face of the man who allowed the destruction of House Atreides. Walken has a fragility that juxtaposes the immense position of power he holds. He's the perfect representation of a man who has clung to power through betrayal and cold calculation, making it easy for the audience to root for Paul's usurpation of him.
He's a classic rugged, loyal, and fearsome warrior who would be just as at home in a movie about World War II as he is roaming the deserts of an alien planet. Brolin was the perfect choice because he is both the everyman that Gurney needs to be, and he provides familiarity and House loyalty that can easily spur violence. Gurney has genuine love for Paul, but Brolin knows to hide this under the exterior of masculine withholding and a penchant for vengeance rather than justice.
His physicality within the role should not be overlooked as well, as he fights in some of the best action sequences in the film. His final fight with Paul for the seat of the Emperor is a heart-pounding moment that makes the audience question if Paul will die, even though the franchise couldn't continue without him. It's a shame that Butler's character won't be present in any following films, but he still made his mark in Dune 2.
