A worker has been fatally crushed by a crane at a building site in Melbourne’s southeast. It’s understood the 28-year-old man was struck and crushed by the arm of a truck-mounted crane while working alone unloading timber at a Berwick site about 2pm on Friday.
Emergency services attended the site at the corner of Atrani Avenue and Santorini Parade, however, the man couldn’t be saved. WorkSafe is investigating. The man’s death is the eighth confirmed workplace fatality this year, compared to 13 at the same time last year.
