Vigil held for Paddington alleged murder victims as protestors clash with police day before Mardi Gras celebrations

Hundreds of Sydneysiders have gathered to pay tribute to the memories of much-loved couple Jesse Baird and Luke Davies alongside their friends and family. On Friday night, the crowd squeezed onto the grass at Green Park in Sydney’s east to honour the lives of Baird and Davies, who were allegedly murdered just under a fortnight ago at Baird’s Paddington home.

Protesters and police clash near vigil for allegedly murdered couple. A slideshow played photos of the pair, and many lined up to sign a condolence book. “Something like this. I’m so glad that they’ve done ,” one attendee told Sunrise. “I think the community needed it. I think everybody needed it. They’re going to be missed.” Sydney Mayor Clover Moore attended the vigil, calling their loss “tragic”.
