Australia’s motocross community is in mourning over the death of Jayden Archer, the first person to land a triple-backflip in freestyle competition. Archer died in a training accident in Melbourne. He was reportedly practising the trick that made his name. The 27-year-old leaves behind a fiancée. A bronze medallist at the X Games California last year, he landed the first-ever freestyle motocross triple backflip in competition at the Nitro World Games in Brisbane in 2022.

“This right now, had a lot of obstacles, a lot of broken bones, a lot of knockouts, but I tell you what, I would do it a hundred times over to relive that.” Nitro Circus founder Travis Pastrana, a global superstar in motocross, paid tribute to Archer, who was affectionately known as Jayo. “Thank you for the memories friend. Thank you for being such a great human and positive role model for all of us,” he wrote on Instagram.
