I once asked some of my Runner’s World coworkers what was the fastest mile they ever ran. One of them said they ran somewhere in the 4-minute range, but that was back in high school. When I was in high school, I was known for a few things: getting involved in every theater production, singing in the TartanTones , and being the first person at lacrosse practice.
I guess that’s how I became a runner. That was six years ago, and today I’m writing this from my desk at Runner’s World HQ, sitting next to the outer circle of our indoor track . One of our gear editors just left me a new pair of shoes to wear-test, a perk my wallet and I will never quite get over. I keep pinching myself, because this sport that I went from hating to loving has led me to the greatest job in the world.
