Here at team STELLAR we found ourselves wondering just that – so here is everything we found out about the actress who is currently gracing our screens! She grew up in a town called Potters Bar in Hertfordshire, England with her family. Her mother moved to the UK as a child and her father immigrated in his twenties. Ambika actually studied English at college (St. Mary’s in Durham), but she took part in acting and sketch comedy, performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015.
She then started her career as a personal assistant at Condé Nast, performing comedy at night. And while she’d had her foot in the door for a while, it wasn’t until 2022 that she got her breakthrough role as Shruti Acharya in the BBC series This Is Going To Hurt. The intense medical comedy drama was critically appraised, placing Ambika on the roster as an actress to be taken seriously. The miniseries landed on Netflix just last week on February 8th, and tells the story of two star crossed lovers, Emma Morley (Ambika) and Dexter Mayhew (Leo Woodall)
