Liverpool's Chinese New Year festivities kick off tonight with a massive programme of events all over the city. The Bombed Out Church will host a projection show inspired by traditional Chinese folklore of 'The Boy & The Pearl' across the weekend. The story has been developed in collaboration with the church, local artists and Pagoda Arts and is accompanied by a magical soundscape created for this year’s spectacle.
The grounds of the church will also be brought to life with an audio-visual art installation developed with the church's community engagement team. A special commission will showcase a 7ft high driftwood dragon, alongside a field of crafted leaves created by local school children and community members, featuring illustrations and messages of hope for the new year.
