The shocking revelation was contained in a new report about the misuse of the 911 system that was considered by the Peel Regional Police Service board on Friday.
The report says that the total volume of 911 calls received between 11 p.m. on Feb. 14 when the Amber Alert was first issued and 3 a.m. on Feb. 15 when it was lifted was 208, which represents a 65 per cent increase on the usual call volume during that time period.
ANYONE calling 911 to COMPLAIN about an amber alert should have their number blocked ... then they can just fuck off if they require a true emergency 911 call .. ASSHOLES

Riya’s life was in danger and is no longer with us. However, people could only worry about their TV shows being interrupted and the fact that they thought the alert invaded their privacy. How selfish can people be? I was heartbroken to hear that Riya was murdered.

Amber Alerts used to be put on overhead highway signs - drivers could check other cars around them. Flashed in tv phone screens alerts NO ONE WHO CAN HELP. There has to be a better way!

How selfish can people get! I had my alert go off when I was in middle of evacuating apartment building due 2 carbon monoxide & with my confused mother who's in dementia! Plus alert is off on phone malfunctions! Alert went off anyway! I didn't call 911!
