Two toddlers have been found dead in a car in Central Queensland. Police are investigating the sudden deaths of two boys, aged two and three, following an incident at a property at Woorabinda, an Aboriginal community 170km southwest of Rockhampton, on Friday night. Central Region Crime Coordinator Darrin Shadlow said the first child was taken to Woorabinda Hospital after being found unresponsive in a parked car in the rear of a home on Richardson St just before 8pm.
“The second was laying down in the rear footwell of the vehicle and wasn’t seen by the residents when they located the first child,” he said. Detectives are working to determine how the incident unfolded. “It appears it was a tragic accident,” Shadlow said, adding police believed the boys had “somehow got into the vehicle and they’d been there for some time”. Shadlow said the boys, who are related, had not travelled in the vehicle, which was unused and had no electronic functions.
