Thandie Newton is a proud parent as daughter Nico Parker attends Dumbo premiere

Thandie Newton looked every inch the proud parent on Thursday as her daughter made her London debut at the premiere of Dumbo.live action adaptation of the classic animation.

As she walked the red carpet, her parents Thandie and director Ol Parker, joined her as they posed for pictures.They also posed for snaps with Nico’s co-stars including Colin Farrell, Danny DeVito, and Eva Green, as well as director Tim Burton.The movie follows Holt Farrier , a former circus star who ‘finds his life turned upside down when he returns from the war’.

All this changes however, when circus owner Max Medici enlists him to care for a newborn elephant, whose oversized ears make him a laughing stock – until it’s discovered, by Nico and fellow new thespian Finley Hobbins, that he can fly.Nico previously revealed herSpeaking about their relationship, she said: ‘[My mum] is very “mama bear” over me.‘Just the fact that she’s been through things herself, it also teaches me what situations I can avoid, or what situations that I can stay in.

Despite having some famous faces for parents – dad Ol recently the directing Mamma Mia sequel – she recently confessed she didn’t want any advice from either of them, and revealed she’s learned how to speak up for herself as she got older.‘When I was younger, in my friend group, I was quieter. I wouldn’t really step on anyone’s toes,’ she told Teen Vogue.
