wowed kids and adults, taking the concept of imagination and play and spinning into a $US470 million blockbuster. So now what? Five years down the track and a couple of Batman and Ninjago spin-offs later, can the citizens of Bricksburg delight us again?is part of the reason the first movie went down so well is that it really had never been done before.
Still, there’s a perfectly workable story here that kids will be more than content with, enough in it for adults so it’s not a chore. And it’s still got a great message at its core that taps into the current moment — it just takes a long time to get to it. Everyone, except Emmett who remains annoyingly optimistic — Batman really should teach that boy how to brood — and has his sights on a dream home. When the Duplo invaders hit Bricksburg-now-Apocalypseburg again and kidnap Lucy , Batman , Benny , MetalBeard and Unikitty , taking them to the Systar System, Emmett mounts a rescue mission.
Emmett also meets Rex Dangervest, a space cowboy type who embodies everything Emmett is not — confident, decisive and worldly.seems to be this story about us versus them, the original Bricksburg characters versus the interloper Systar System residents, but it eventually reveals itself to be much deeper and more thoughtful than that.
