Australia have seemingly been dealt another injury blow as Glenn Maxwell continues to bid for a swift return to the team at the Cricket World Cup in India. Maxwell has been ruled out of Australia’s game against England on Saturday night after falling out of a cart while playing golf, but is pressing his case to make a return against Afghanistan on Tuesday.

Australia’s World Cup hopes cop double blow. According to Daniel Cherny, Maxwell was put through his paces at Australia’s optional training session at Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday night. He did shuttle runs inside the stadium before facing about 10 overs of slow bowling in the nets, having completed a lighter session on Thursday. But the positive signs for Maxwell were tempered by a scare to young spinner, Tanveer Sangha.
