Today, Toho Studios released a new image from the Kaiju film ahead of the Godzilla Minus One release date on December 1 in the United States. Check it out below: The image offers a closer look at Godzilla's updated design, which is reminiscent of previous versions, taking clear cues from the franchise's Heisei era that lasted from 1984 to 1995. With sizable, sharp spikes sticking out of his spine, the updated design also appears to be one of the most formidable renditions, which is fitting since the new film is returning the franchise to its darker roots.
The Godzilla Minus One release date in Japan is right around the corner on November 3. This is the same day the original Godzilla movie was released in 1954, which was chosen as the new movie's release date to celebrate the franchise's 70th anniversary. However, American audiences will have to wait a bit longer until December 1 to see Godzilla Minus One in theaters.
