Comic Relief has denied they edited out footage from Stacey Dooley’s trip to Uganda, which aired during the charity’s telethon.
The documentary maker faced criticism after posing with a young boy from Uganda and posting it on Instagram, captioned with the word ‘obsessed’., with Comic Relief responding in a statement backing Stacey’s work for the charity., some claimed Comic Relief had cut out footage of the young boy she was pictured with – which the charity has since denied.
‘I got malaria probably eight or nine years ago now,’ Stacey said. ‘I was in west Africa at the time. Clearly it was a very different story for me, I was hugely privileged and we were able to get on top of it. ‘
