Two sisters have spoken of their joy at seeing their mum’s beloved 1940s dancing shoes restored to their glittering former glory - after turning to TV’s The Repair Shop.
Janice said: “The shoes were among mum’s most treasured possessions and reminded her of her younger days when she would go dancing the night away in Glasgow’s famous dance halls during the 1940s and 50s. That’s where she met our dad, Robert. Fiona, a project administrator with the NHS, added: “The shoes are a great representation of her personality and of her life and that is why they mean so much to us. To see them restored is absolutely amazing.”
The delicate 1940s shoes took master cobbler Dean Westmoreland hours of painstaking work to repair -- including rethreading characteristic silver threading.
