Mahani Teave earned a few of her music degrees while a student at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Now, the Internationally acclaimed classical pianist returns to Cleveland as part of her debut American recital tour.

International pianist and environmental activist Mahani Teave will give a recital at The Cleveland Museum of Art on Sunday, October 22.NEW YORK, New York - On Sunday, the Tri-C Classical Piano Series, which brings world-class pianists to perform in Cleveland, will be welcoming a Cleveland-trained piano star, Mahani Teave, back to town. Teave, who studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music, has evolved into an internationally acclaimed pianist and environmental and educational activist.

The young phenom decided to continue her studies in America, in a city she knew little about beyond the fact that one of her primary musical heroes, world-class pianist and educatorIn a recent interview, she said was determined to study under “the amazing musician” who does “absolutely magical” things with the instrument.

Teave said living in Cleveland was a huge culture shock. But she has fond memories of the North Coast beyond her work at CIM. Teave said the non-profit school is struggling financially but that she is committed to sharing her music and her message of environmental awareness and responsibility with the world.

The album twice topped of the Classical Billboard charts and helped thrust Teave into the international spotlight. The album, her talent her story and her desire to help her homeland and the world community have led to other opportunities, including the Emmy-nominated documentary, “Song of Rapa Nui.
