A mum has faced her “worst nightmare” after she found a venomous snake slithering in her kitchen before it disappeared in her cupboard - leaving her fearing for days. Amelia, who lives on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, shared a three-part series documenting her terrifying encounter with a yellow-faced whipsnake.

The drama began when the unwanted guest let himself into the family home before going into hiding. “Oh my god, it’s up into the cupboard, I’ve lost it, it’s gone,” Amelia said. “This is my worst nightmare. Usually I would think this is actually quite funny but I feel so wretched. I just don’t even have the energy. “Either I am moving out of this house or that snake is moving out of this house. But both of us cannot live here.
