Kim Jong-un is alleged to have executed a general by 'throwing him into fish tank full of deadly piranhas' - in an act reminiscent of a James Bond film. The unnamed general was accused of planning a coup against Mr Jong-un, the Supreme Leader of North Korea, but ended up as the latest victim of the newly-developed execution method.
It is believed Mr Jong-un told his researchers to come up with several execution methods designed to scare would-be plotters. The 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me has a scene in which the villain Karl Stromberg executes opponents by dropping them into a shark-filled aquarium - thought to be the inspiration behind the alleged incident.
The head of the country's army, the boss of North Korea’s Central Bank and the Cuban and Malaysian ambassadors are among those who have died. The Minister for Education in North Korea Kim Yong-jin, was reportedly executed by firing squad for "having a bad attitude" in 2016.
