Multiple people have been injured by a vehicle after it mounted the footpath in Sydney’s Inner West. A rideshare vehicle was stationary and accepting a fare on Railway Parade in Burwood when a Ford Ranger allegedly crashed into it and mounted the footpath about 12.25am on Sunday. The Ford Ranger then hit a third vehicle. Five pedestrians were hit in the incident. Two occupants in the ride-share vehicle required treatment by paramedics.
It was a “chaotic” scene, NSW Ambulance Inspector Dominic Wong said. “We treated a total number of seven patients, with injuries ranging from head injuries chest injuries,” he said. “Some patients were in serious conditions and others were walking, minor.” Patients were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, St George Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital. The 19-year-old driver of the Ford Ranger was arrested at the scene and taken to Burwood Police Station.
