A forgotten line of dialogue from The Mandalorian season 2 could be utilized to set-up the return of a major New Republic-era character.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT A forgotten line from The Mandalorian season 2 could provide the means to bring back a major New Republic-era Star Wars character. Beginning with The Mandalorian season 1 in 2019, Star Wars began fleshing out an area of the franchise's timeline that was almost entirely unexplored beforehand.

Along with these new stories came the New Republic era's various characters. While the original trilogy characters like Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and others are still at play, new characters like Din Djarin, Grogu, Ahsoka Tano, and the crew of Star Wars Rebels were made vital to the overarching narrative of the New Republic era as evident by the upcoming Star Wars movie set in this section of the timeline.

In the final act of that episode, Boba was shown flying toward an Imperial Cruiser after Grogu was taken by Dark Troopers. Upon seeing the ship, Boba remarked: “They’re back. The Empire, they’re back,” indicating the former bounty hunter's shock at their resurgence. This line set the precedent for Boba to oppose the Imperials in the remaining episodes of The Mandalorian season 2, yet The Book of Boba Fett centered solely on his crime lord status rather than any battles against the Imperials.

Why It Would Be A Good Thing For Boba Fett To Return The potentiality of Boba Fett returning means it is worth exploring why he should be brought back despite Disney forgetting about him. First and foremost, Boba Fett's actor Temuera Morrison deserves his time in the spotlight. Despite never being a mainstay of the Star Wars franchise, Morrison has shown an incredible amount of loyalty to Lucasfilm as well as sheer happiness that he got to be involved in the series.

Secondly, the character of Boba Fett still has a wealth of storytelling potential regardless of the divisive reception to The Book of Boba Fett. Star Wars is full of characters whose early stories were not well-received before going on to become fan favorites. The likes of Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, and even Rey Skywalker of late are all characters who saw a surge in popularity after their initial debuts caused controversy.
