Swift is arguably the most powerful pop star in the Western world, and her every action and utterance is lapped up by her legions of fans. Her Eras Tour collected more than $1 billion dollars, and now the film version opening in more than 8,500 theaters across 100 countries is likely to do the same.
One common thread among the adult Swifties was the feeling of growing up and maturing alongside Swift, whose eponymously titled debut album was released in 2006 when she was 16. “I think her ability as a songwriter is that she makes it specific enough so you know she’s talking about herself but generic enough that it can apply to you in your life and it’s cool because she’s 33, I’m 32 and I’ve almost grown up with her,” Stovall said.
“From my experience, the Swifties are very nice people. I’ve never been around Swifties and felt bad energy. So I think we’re all going to go with the flow,” she said. “I’m so excited. I’ve been a Swiftie since I was 7 years old,” the now 22-year-old Hajostek said. “She’s literally my favorite person in the entire world. I love her so much. Her music is so fabulous and she is such a powerful woman, and she makes me want to be a powerful woman.”Swift isn’t just inspiring to little girls, tweens, teens and twentysomethings.
Standing in line for popcorn were friends Megan Belden, 31, Britney Vlasaty, 31, and her sister Abbey Metyk, 15, all from Cleveland. Sisters Vlasaty and Metyk were both glammed up in Red and Black, with Vlasaty sporting a black top and tight, bright red pants and her sister rocking a red sequined top and tight black pants while Belden had a Swift branded “In My Mama Era” sweatshirt.
