Fans and friends have expressed “devastation” at the news that the much-loved New Zealand stand-up comedian and writer Cal Wilson has died, aged 53. The popular comic died after a “short illness”, her management Token Artists said on Wednesday. She leaves behind husband Chris and son Digby. Wilson’s former SlideShow co-star Grant Denyer led tributes to the comedian, taking to her Instagram to thank her for “everything”. “Oh my goodness. I’m shaking. I can’t believe what I’m reading.
I enjoyed every yarn we had and every stage we shared. “All my love to family and friends”. “This is devastating news! sending all my love to Cal’s beautiful family💜,” TV personality David Subritzky said. Wilson’s former Bake Off co-star Darren Purchese said: “Oh Cal - you were the best. I can’t believe this news . I loved you very much and condolences to Chris, Digby, and family 💔💔💔💔💔”. “Can’t believe it. A beautiful human gone too soon.
