Seventeen people who piled into an elevator of a Cairns hotel became trapped, sparking an emergency response. Firefighting, ambulance and police crews responded to the incident on The Esplanade about 9.45pm on Tuesday.
It took about half an hour for the group to be freed from the elevator. No one was injured in the incident. “Seventeen uninjured patients were assessed after becoming stuck in an elevator at a hotel on The Esplanade,” Queensland Ambulance Service said.
