The artwork by more than 20 Chicago artists was part of a $3.5 million art commission.

"Shinsekai Yori " by Mayumi Lake, part of new artwork in O’Hare International Airport’s Terminal 5.The city on Wednesday unveiled new artwork to grace O’Hare International Airport’s Terminal 5, the terminal servicing international flights to and from Chicago.

The artwork by more than 20 Chicago artists will have its installation completed this month and was part of a $3.5 million art commission led by Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and the Chicago Department of Aviation. According to the Wednesday announcement, the new collection represents the city’s largest single acquisition of works by Chicago artists in the last 30 years.
