A Private Club Where Museum-Quality Art Is Part of the Appeal

Sandy Edgerley, co-founder of Boston’s ’Quin House, has infused the private social club with her own passion for art. An example: Passersby the historic Bay Back building will spot one of American Pop artist Robert Indiana’s Amor sculptures outside its front door through Oct. 16.

Dubbed the ’Quin House, an abbreviated nod to the Algonquin, the 56,000-square-foot club opened in the summer of 2021 with four restaurants, six bars and lounges, a roof deck, a fitness center, private event spaces, and eight guestrooms. Penta recently spoke with Edgerley about the ’Quin’s sense of community and how art plays an essential role.Sandy Edgerley: The idea has always been about who is part of the club—members of diverse backgrounds coming together and finding common bonds in that they are leaders, creators, and innovators, who are also making a difference in some way.
