The Cork woman had struggled with her weight for a long time, finding diets and food plans never worked for her.
Speaking to RSVP Live, Jessica said: "There was a guard of honour for him going from the church as he was being brought to his grave. I knew that if I walked behind them then I wouldn't make it because my mobility was so bad that I could barely walk. For Jessica, weight loss surgery was the best option for her after going in circles with different diets and food plans for years. Her doctor had diagnosed her with binge eating disorder, which meant that it was extremely difficult to stick with a diet plan, and she knew that surgery was the best option for her health."The only way I can describe it is, it's like I'm a new person but I'm not - I'm the person now that I always was, but was too afraid to show," she said.
However, for Jessica, part of the success of the surgery also came from working on the mental issues that led to her binge eating disorder and weight gain. For anyone considering weight loss surgery, she advises them to find the root of the problem beforehand in order to ensure you don't go back to bad habits down the line.
