If it hadn’t been for his autobiographical show First Time, actor and playwright Nathaniel J Hall says he might still be living with the ‘shame and secrecy’ of his HIV diagnosis.

"We have to vocally say we’re proud of who we are in order to push back on the hate towards our community. We want to tell people that being queer is great - and it is - but we also need to highlight the realities.
“The reaction to First Time was just so overwhelming,” he explains. “I had written the show with the idea that it was going to be the catalyst for me telling my family about my HIV diagnosis. If it hadn’t been for that show, I might have still been in that place of shame and secrecy.” Nathaniel hopes he can strike a chord again with audiences with the themes surrounding Toxic. Starring alongside Joshua-Susan Enright, the show is set to tour the UK following its run in Manchester.
