No wonder Festival Japan on Kent Street, which opened in the late 1980s and recently reopened after months of renovations, has appended an izakaya menu to its sushi menu, arguably to stay on-trend. This month I’ve brought food home from Takedon Ottawa, a takeout-based Japanese kitchen in the ground floor of an office building on Prince of Wales Drive. Ottawa restaurant-lovers who remember the heydays of C’est Japon à Suisha and Japanese Village may be old enough to also recall, as I do, the Green Valley, a beloved destination restaurant located near where Takedon is now.
