A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr Felix Oditah, has joined other Nigerians who are setting agenda for the President as he gets set to begin another four-year tenure.
Speaking in an interview with Channels Television on the expectations of Nigerians from President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr Oditah said the President must focus urgently on growing the economy faster than the nation’s population growth.“I think the first thing the President needs to do is the economy”.“For a country as big as Nigeria, a developing country, the idea that we are growing at 1.5 or 2 per cent per annum is a complete joke.
Mr Oditah said, “We need to be growing at around 7 to 10 per cent. How can we be growing at 1.5 or 2 per cent? It’s easy for us to slide back into recession. That’s the number one challenge that he is facing.“And that’s why many people who did not want him to return, prefer Atiku because they thought there was hope; that Atiku could reinvigorate the economic forces that would produce a vibrant economy.
“For a population like ours which is exploding, we need an economy that is growing faster than the population.” The Senior Advocate identified security as the second most important issue the President needs to address, insisting that the threat posed by terrorism in the North East is far from over.“But anyone who is following events in Nigeria knows that they have not contained Boko Haram.“So he needs to tackle insurgency and insecurity and to ensure that the fight is an honest fight and that public resources are not being wasted in “creating Boko Haram millionaires”.
If only MBuhari have a concise knowledge of Economics! Admit it folks, this old rag is a zombie in Agada!
It is quite evident that President Buhari will focus on the economy in order to move the country forward
Don't bank on it sir, we just re-enforced failure!!
Improve power supply by say 50%
My QC our president is clueless about what his administration need to focus on let alone achieving any meaningful progress in economy!
I have suggested that buhari should be efcc boss nt President dud is so obsessed with fighting corruption he is accomplished nothing yet
The economy as a priority should be a given, and a round the clock one always. However, it can’t be the economy first and others in sequence. Urgent multi-tasking needed: economy, leadership, anti-corruption, education, health, child nutrition, manufacturing, industrialisation...
😂😂😂😂 okay o make we dey watch.
No sir, he should ' pight kwaraption'
No, let him focus on his political enemies.
