'The way Scousers can tell a story and keep everyone intrigued naturally is just funny'

Samuel Evanson, originally from Wales but now living in Haydock, St Helens, is the brains behind the series Joey’s. The comedy-drama - which has been likened to Gavin and Stacey meeting Shameless in a Liverpool setting - centres around hairdresser Joey, played by Samuel, and his dysfunctional family.

The 24-year-old actor told the ECHO: “I work with Scousers and I’ve been around them for years and I just find them hysterical. The way they can tell a story and keep everyone intrigued naturally is just funny. You watch the telly these days and there’s nothing that has the old-fashioned type of comedy anymore - where real-life scenarios were just funny. I feel like a good comedy hasn’t been set in Liverpool for some time now.
