In a first for any national football organization, the Pop Warner youth league announced Thursday that it will ban the traditional three-point stance.
Pop Warner, the nation's oldest youth football organization, will be eliminating the stance in its three youngest divisions -- Tiny Mite , Mitey Mite and Junior Pee Wee -- as of the 2019 season.Beginning in September, players in those divisions will no longer be able to place their hands on the ground before they snap the ball.
"Eliminating the three-point stance should lessen the amount of force between linemen and we expect it will cut down on unintentional helmet contact at the line," said Dr. Julian Bailes, chairman of the Pop Warner Medical Advisory Committee, in the statement.Pop Warner will also be eliminating the kickoff in its Pee Wee division, after banning the move in its three youngest divisions in 2016. Now, after a score or when starting a half, the ball will be placed at the 35 yard line.
I’ve coached youth football for many years. Youth coaches should have to go to a training course to learn the proper techniques of blocking and tackling. Most kids that I coached were hurt worse by not having a father than anything on the football field.

They would better protect the health and safety of these young children by doing away with the programs altogether. Children's bodies are not developed enough for contact sports at this young age.

I think this is actually a very good idea. At that age, there isn’t a lot to gain from a three-point stance. Kids get lazy and lower their heads to block. Instead, Coaches can teach young lineman to block with their hands from an athletic position
If I’m a linebacker I’m exposing those o-lineman and breaking their sternum every damn play

How about teaching your coaches to teach proper technique to promote safety? Teaching them to play high is a recipe for injury at higher levels.

3 point stances aren't the problem, youth football is. Youth football does more harm than good. Kids are coached by weekend warrior coaches that have no clue what they're doing. No contact until 7th grade is the way to go.
Drop the helmets and play flag football like the NFL
Or they can just teach kids to initial contact and tackle at the waist instead of going up high causing injury. Also, ban the stupid Oklahoma drill. It’s basically a drill to see who gets concussed first

If the kids are leading with their heads coming out of the stance than of course it should be banned till they can be trained out of it.
