JOHN'S, N.L. — Several music programs are receiving $700,000 in provincial funding to support projects for the upcoming Year of the Arts.
HarbourVoices, a home-grown international choral festival, will receive funding to help launch the festival, running from June 29 to July 4, 2024. Funding for MusicNL will help the organization continue offering programs to support local music and musicians, including an enhanced artist development and community presenter's program.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society will be provided with funding to incorporate new youth engagement programs that will take place in most parts of the province next year. "This summer, we supported hundreds of community groups and small businesses to hire musicians and celebrate great music all across our province," said Rhonda Tulk-Lane, CEO of MusicNL."We look forward to making more musical contributions for the Year of the Arts."
