Acapella group, The Soil, is back with a new member and is working on a new album.

The musician is not new to the group as she stood in for Mda in 2016 when she took a break to pursue her spiritual journey. Speaking to City Press, Matshoba said as much as she did not think that she’d be a permanent member of The Soil, she was excited to be part of the group:

Theo brought with her this newness that is paired with exciting creative energy, which is also a pleasantly surprising feeling for all of us. We really can’t put a finger on it, but there’s hunger for all of us to keep pushing the envelope, to keep writing more music, to keep taking all these bookings, and to keep announcing shows and tours.

“It’s not easy. We just have to get used to the fact that she has left and yes, she is gonna be highly missed, but we soldier on. We are just going to concentrate on the music and give people what they need - music-wise,” said Phindo.Working with Buhle and carving this brilliant legacy together is something that made it hard.

Phindo said that what they were doing was not just music for the present time only but was also for generations to come.
