Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will miss the rest of the season with a torn Achilles tendon, meaning it’s Zach Wilson’s show in New York.

The Jets tried to sign Brett Rypien off the Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad, according to multiple reports.Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay did not disclose the reason for the Bennett roster move, but it means the quarterback will be sidelined at least the next four games.“The fortunate thing for us is that Brett Rypien has been in-house,” McVay told reporters on Thursday.

The Jets reportedly targeted quarterback Brett Rypien before he was promoted from the Rams’ practice squad.“He was the backup last week, and he’s going to continue to be in that situation until anything changes on that note.”The 27-year-old Rypien joined the Broncos in 2019 as an undrafted free agent out of Boise State.

Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and Brett Rypien spent last season together with the Broncos.He played in eight games over three seasons in Denver, going 2-1 as a starter.Rypien’s NFL roots run deep. He is the nephew of quarterback Mark Rypien, who won Super Bowl 26 MVP honors by leading Washington to a 37-24 win over the Buffalo Bills.Aaron Rodgers will miss the rest of the season after suffering an Achilles tear.Zach Wilson came off the bench Sunday and helped the Jets beat the Bills, 22-16 in overtime.
