Now he is heading for one of the most famous roles on Irish screens - hosting The Late Late Show.

He was only 16 when he was killed and speaking to RTE host Ryan Tubridy, he said: "I was 16 and it was my brother's 18 birthday. How did Patrick Kielty become a comedian? While he was still a psychology student at Queen's University, Patrick appeared in a show called "The Empire Laughs Back", a show staged in The Empire Music Hall started by him and fellow student Jackie Hamilton.

"It was around two o'clock in the morning and closing time. She said, 'It's just a shame you're not in LA, because I'm having a lunch tomorrow' and I said 'I'll be there'.
