An attempt to free the Ocean Explorer with a large fishing trawler has failed and a Danish warship is now on its way but won’t get there until Saturday.

The parents of an Australian actor who are stranded onboard the Ocean Explorer say the ship is “well and truly stuck” after the latest attempt to free to luxury cruise liner was unsuccessful.The luxury cruise ship ran aground in the Alpefjord National Park, about 1400 kilometres north-east of Greenland’s capital Nuuk, on Monday. The ship is carrying 206 passengers, mostly Australians.

The ship is now stuck until at least Saturday morning when the nearest Danish warship, Knud Rasmussen, is due to arrive to conduct the next attempt.Credit:Credit:Lachman’s mum Tashi runs a travel agency, Thor Travel, out of Adelaide and has brought 12 passengers on board.
