arrived in the southside to deliver an electrifying performance that left the Hampden masses roaring for more., their first album of new songs in 18 years, were then towards the end of their Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle concert tour which saw them play more than 60 dates around the world.
At Hampden Park on July 9, 1990, an estimated 70,000 fans assembled, eager to witness Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, original bassist Bill Wyman, and the late Charlie Watts in action.Supported by Glasgow rockers Gun, the Stones put on a vintage performance as they blasted through classics such as Start Me Up, Satisfaction and Jumpin' Jack Flash.
The band's set was accompanied by an elaborate stage set that included giants screens and a huge inflatable doll used during the song Honky Tonk Women. By the end of the night, the legendary group, who were already considered veterans of their craft by this stage, proved once and for all that they really were the world's greatest rock and roll band.
