When Emmerdale first introduced the loveable Lydia Dingle to fans back in 2016, it didn’t take long for the character to capture the hearts and attention of the nation.
The harrowing storyline is sure to tug at viewers heart strings, and was described by actress Karen Blick as one of the most significant of her career, but thankfully, away from the soap, Karen has a far less drama filled life off screen. However, despite her reservations, Karen persevered and eventually secured a four week role in Emmerdale as Lydia Hart back in 2016.
At her hilarious best, she and on-screen husband Sam Dingle, played by James Hooton, were tasked with streaking through the countryside to fulfil one of Lisa Dingle’s dying wishes. While at the other end of the spectrum, Karen reduced viewers to tears when Lydia revealed she had been living under a false identity after she delivered her own stillborn baby and buried the body in the grounds of the orphanage where she lived as a teenager.
