Ryan Day declined to name a starting quarterback on Monday’s Buckeye Roundtable show but says Kyle McCord and Devin Brown are pushing each other hard in practice.

Ohio State’s ongoing journey to name a starting quarterback has continued through Monday of its first game week, as head coach Ryan Day declined to name a starter during his weekly call-in to the Ohio State Sports Network’s Buckeye Roundtable show Monday.

“They have to bring it every day,” Day said. “When you have somebody that you’re competing against every day in practice, it brings out the best in you, because you can’t take a play off, every play matters.” “During Senior Tackle one year, Pete Werner said that one of the things he wanted to make sure he left in terms of legacy was that every play matters. Every rep matters,” Day said. “He was so right about that, and we use that a lot around here.”Day opened his call-in by saying that the team wants to go on the road and play “good, fundamental football” in Week 1. “This year we have to win a bunch of games on the road, so no better place to start than a conference game on the road.
