The Salvator Mundi was described as “one of fewer than 20 known paintings by Leonardo” when it sold for a record $450 million (£342 million) in 2017, only to disappear without trace amid increasing doubts about its attribution to the Renaissance master.

Damn, my paint by numbers Mundi has been rumbled!

It's my understanding the restoration uncovered serious defects in the painting, including deliberate overpainting and damage to the original work. Less than 40% of the original remaining including parts of the face.

Pity it hasn’t got a shredder attached to it like a certain other artist

Oh this breaks my heart. I love that painting so much.
