Friends pop culture references that are relevant a decade later.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Friends may have finished almost a decade ago, but many of its pop culture references are still relevant today. Streaming has made it possible for new generations to watch older shows and made it easy to revisit episodes. While there are some things that haven’t aged well on Friends, like the LGBTIQA+ references, there are a lot that still stand the test of time.

Sting is still relevant today. He’s still touring. And the difficulty of getting concert tickets is even more relevant today than it was back then. Sting also appeared as himself in the first season of Only Murders in the Building. He’s still a big part of pop culture today. 7 “So You're Playin’ A Little PlayStation, Huh” In the Friends season 7 premiere, Joey is auditioning to play a 25-year-old. No one believes he can play 25 when he’s over 30. He tries to get into the mind frame of someone in their mid-twenties. He dresses up in a crop top basketball jersey with his boxers showing. He then speaks like an idiot: “Sup. Sup, Dude. So you're playin’ a little PlayStation, huh? That’s whack. PlayStation is wack.

4 “Sam Waterston” After all these years, Law & Order and Sam Waterson are still relevant. While the original show is no longer on the air, its three spin-offs are. It’s one of those shows that are cemented into pop culture. In season 5, episode 19, the gang is very excited to watch Joey’s part in Law & Order. The episode even shows clips on the TV of the episode.
