Cynthia Allen was an icon in Cape Breton's music community. - CONTRIBUTEDLife in the Victoria Park Homeless Encampment | SaltWireSYDNEY, N.S. — Cynthia Allen was a local musician who was renowned for her musical talent and kindness.

Allen was born in 1957 and grew up in Rhode Island. She and her sister, Shelley Allen, would visit their mother’s home in Cape Dauphin every summer. Cindy settled down in Big Bras d’Or, surrounded by family and friends. The sisters worked together for 28 years at Take Note Music School in Sydney. They taught many aspiring musicians over the years of all ages and experience levels.

Cindy Allen loved spending time with her daughter, Alison, and her granddaughter, Annika. - CONTRIBUTED Cindy volunteered as a stage manager with Celtic Colours for many years. She worked alongside her dear friend, Rhoda Maccormick.
