Stephen King gives his seal of approval to the new Dracula movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter, calling it a 'throat-ripping good time.'

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Stephen King gives a surprised good review to the new Dracula movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Film history has offered up numerous takes on Bram Stoker’s immortal creation Dracula, ranging from the iconic original Universal monster movie starring Bela Lugosi to this year’s darkly comedic Renfield, starring Nicolas Cage as Stoker’s bloodsucker.

Ahead of the Last Voyage of the Demeter release date, horror master King took to social media to give the latest Dracula film his endorsement, praising the movie and comparing it favorably to some iconic Dracula movies of the past. Posting on Twitter, King admitted to being skeptical of Demeter, but assured the film is a “throat-ripping good time,” adding “It reminded me of the best of the Hammer movies from the 60s and 70s.

Last Voyage Of The Demeter Puts A Survival-Horror Spin On Dracula Dracula films have traditionally focused on the chapters from Stoker’s epistolary novel set in Transylvania and in London, but Last Voyage of the Demeter gives attention to a passage from the book that is often skipped over, the section titled “Captain’s Log,” which takes place aboard the ship carrying Dracula from Transylvania to London.

It’s yet to be seen whether the wedding of survival-horror tropes with Dracula results in a successful movie, but King for his part seems impressed by what The Last Voyage of the Demeter has to offer. King of course is well-versed in the ways of the vampire, thanks to works of his own like Salem’s Lot and The Night Flier, so his opinion carries some weight.
