Timothee Chalamet's 'Wonka' Movie: Everything to Know

“I think it's the first time people saw Hugh Grant as the Oompa Loompa,” Chalamet told attendees during the film’s panel. “It was a trip. Hugh is one of our greats … it was a dream to work with him.”The first official look of the film dropped in July 2023. In the clip, Chalamet can be seen as a young Willy Wonka as he embarks on his journey to become the iconic chocolatier fans know and love.

"I've spent the past seven years traveling the world, perfecting my craft," Wonka says."You see, I'm something of a magician, inventor and chocolate maker. So quiet up and listen down. Nope. Scratch that, reverse it." In the teaser, Wonka takes on the “chocolate cartel” in hopes of becoming the greatest candy maker. He opens his first store, creates a sweet treat that defies the laws of gravity and traps an Oompa Loompa.
