A wild and whacky wrestling competition in a pool full of gravy will be returning this August Bank Holiday.
The 15th World Gravy Wrestling Championships will take place on August 28 at the Rose ’N’ Bowl in Stacksteads, Rossendale, between 12.30pm-6pm. Contestants will wrestle in the gravy for two minutes.. All contestants get sponsorship to raise money for charity, reports LancsLive. In previous years the event has seen cheerleading groups, a BB gun shooting range, bouncy castles, face painting, craft beer stalls, cake and tombola stands. Children also get a chance to have a go in the gravy.
Food and drink will be served all day and the fire brigade will be there to wash down wrestlers between bouts. Entry is £2.50 per adult and £1.50 for children – all admission fees and proceeds will go to the East Lancashire Hospice.
