Regal Cantera shuts its doors; Cinemark may be taking over

Cineworld Group, which has owned the Regal Entertainment Group since 2018, revealed the closure of its Cantera operation withHowever, Cinemark says on its website that Cinemark Cantera Warrenville and XD is to open Tuesday, Aug. 1. Its message reads: “Hello, Warrenville — we can’t wait to meet you! Cinemark is proud to be the newest member of your community.”

Cinemark and Cineworld officials could not be reached for comment, but Warrenville City Administrator Cristina White said she was aware that Regal Cinemas had closed its theater and that Cinemark could be moving in.
